Lighting of the White House Christmas Tree

The First Family lit the Annual White Christmas Tree on the Ellipse last night, joined by Carson Daly, Ellie Goulding and the cast of the Muppets. Braving the cold, the First Lady wears a light mix wool boucle coat and a vibrant orange scarf. Daughters Sasha and Malia looked as chic as ever, wearing a navy military inspired coat and a black coat with red edging respectively.

The President and First Lady attended the Oregon Beavers vs. the Towson Tigers in Baltimore on Saturday. Mrs Obama's brother, Craig is the Head Coach of the Beavers, and she wore an orange heart jumper from J Crew in their honour. Black jeans, sparkly Converse and a black jacket completed the look.

Signing of the Veterans Jobs Bill

President Obama signed the Veterans Jobs Bill into law at the White House yesterday, and the First Lady was on hand to introduce him. For this historic moment, Mrs O wears a red and pink colour block dress complete with red kitten heels.

The Obamas commemorate Veterans Day

The President and First Lady commemorated Veterans Day this weekend, attending a ceremony at Arlington National Cemetery before heading to San Diego, to watch the NCAA Men's Basketball Carrier Classic on the flight deck of the USS Carl Vinson.

At Arlington, Mrs O was respectful in a black and grey lace skirt and coordinating coat, paired with black knee high boots. She accessorised her outfit with a Miriam Haskell statement necklace of European filigrees, glass pearls and Swarovski crystals. In CA, Mrs O went casual, wearing black trousers with a a red and ivory striped knitted top by Sonia Rykiel and black patent brogues.

Halloween at the White House

The President and First Lady, accompanied by Marion Robinson handed out Halloween goodies and treats at the White House yesterday. Children from the local area, the Boys and Girls Club of America and from military families were among the lucky recipients. A box of White House M&Ms, and some White House Sweet Dough Butter Cookies were in the goody bags.

For this event, Mrs O wears a ASOS Body-Con Dress in Metallic Stripe, paired with knee high boots and her Sonia Rykiel Inauguration Coat.

The White House Sweet Dough Butter Cookie Recipe
1 lb Sugar                                                        1 tsp Vanilla
2 lbs Butter                                                     1 tsp Salt
3 Eggs                                                             3 lbs All Purpose Flour                                                            
Mix the butter and sugar till soft and well beaten. Then add eggs, vanilla, salt and half the flour. Beat on slow speed till mixed, then add the rest of the flour and mix until incorporated.
Push flat onto a cookie sheet and refrigerate overnight. Roll out to one quarter inch thick and cut out cookie shapes with cookie cutter.
Bake at 350F for 14 minutes and then allow to cool.

Bus Tours and Pumpkin Patches with the President and First Lady

On the first part of yesterday's journey, the President and First Lady were at the Joint Base Langley-Eustis in Hampton VA, for the final day of his bus tour. Following a speech about the Jobs Act and good news about the hiring of veterans, the first couple visited a pumpkin patch.
