Mid-month the Mad Men inspired collection designed in collaboration with Janie Bryant will debut in Banana Republic stores. I'm pretty much starved of anything Mad Men related these days since the show has been postponed until next year. Shooting finally begins this week! It's been way too long since I've seen those characters. I think there are some really adorable pieces in this collection but what I really love are the men's looks. Those are some seriously dapper dudes. Tom, I think it might be time to buy you a suit!

Copper Harbor
I headed up to Copper Harbor, Michigan, a beautifully desolate town in the Upper Peninsula last weekend for a wedding. It's been a long time since I've lived in a small town, so when we approached our motel (yes, motel, that's all that exists up there), I was uneasy to discover they just left the doors unlocked and the windows open. I made Don check the tub and I looked under the bed to confirm there was no one waiting to murder me. I felt as if I was transported back in time where pay phones are still used (I found working pay phone booths!) and the only gas station in town still relies on this cool, old gas pump:
I layered this crocheted vest from Threadsence over a vintage Levi's plaid shirt and cut offs to explore Copper Harbor and surrounding towns. It was a comfortable, easy outfit to wear trekking around. Of course, I didn't wear the wedges the whole day, but switched over to flats for some of the walking we did.
[croched vest c/o threadsence, vintage levi's shirt from archives vintage, shorts by levi's, wedges c/o wanted]
The inconceivable becomes achievable.
UPDATE: Sorry I haven't been able to blog the last few days but I'm coming home tonight to blog my head off and until then, today only, everything in the SHOP is 25% off with the code ICEDTEA! Happy Friday shopping!
Hello guys! I'm writing from a sweet little inn in Little Rock, Arkansas. We have seen a lot of this country in the past couple of days. I can't wait to show you all my boring sky/scenery photos. We're right in the middle of the humidity I've heard some of you speak of and I have to hand it to you, you were right! It's pretty strong! I would never be able to wear a sweater in this weather but these photos are from before we left. There's something festive and summery about the humidity, though, right? :)
Well, I guess this is my early back to school look. Don't worry, I will still be doing back to school outfits when I'm 50. I know you were worried about that!
I think I want to start adding a little bit of fall to my life but have to find ways to do so in summer weather. I'm most excited about mixing bright colors with traditional fall colors. Yes, I really do get excited about colors. I'm sure most of you do too. :)
This will probably be one of the last times we take photos in our downtown building. It's been a fabulous year but it's definitely time to move on! It will be fun to be able to say we once lived in Downtown LA in all of it's....glory...? The only thing I will back to visit is Bottega Louie. Favorite restaurant of all time.

This weekend Tom and I went to visit our friends who live just on the PA/Delaware border on the loveliest plot of land. They have a garden full of fresh veggies, trails running through the woods and lots of animals running around. I spend a bit of time playing with their newest additions, a five month of Rottweiler puppy and two rescued Great Pyrenees puppies. Needless to day I was in puppy heaven. There was also a coop of Rhode Island hens and I came home with a dozen fresh eggs. We grilled quesadillas and drank Dos Equis and watched the toads come out when the sun went down. It was pretty much perfection. It almost made we want to give up city life for a little bit of the country.
